Abstract

Background: Thoracic segmental spinalanaesthesia (TSSA) is increasingly beingused as an alternative to general anaesthesia
for upper abdominal surgeries because itprovides effective surgical anaesthesia,excellent postoperative analgesia, and enhanced recovery. Intrathecal α₂-adrenergicagonists such as clonidine anddexmedetomidine are commonly used asadjuvants to improve the quality and durationof spinal anaesthesia.
