Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of a standardized 48-hour flat-prone bed rest protocol in managing postoperative cerebrospinal fluid leakage following spinal surgery.Methods: This retrospective cohort study analyzed 114 patients who underwent spinal
instrumentation between 2018 and 2023 and experienced documented postoperative CSF leakage. All patients were managed with a standardized protocol mandating 48 hours of strict flat-prone, bed rest, followed by a gradual postural transition. Clinical outcomes, including the total duration to complete resolution of CSF drainage, length of hospital stay, and incidence of secondary complications, were systematically recorded.
