Abstract

Background: The spread of spinalanaesthesia is influenced by several patient, procedure-, and drug-related factors.Although height, weight and body massindex are routinely considered, anthropometric parameters such asabdominal girth may also influence intrathecal drug distribution. Increasedintra-abdominal pressure may reducelumbosacral cerebrospinal fluid volumeand thereby alter the cephalad spread oflocal anaesthetic. Evidence regarding
