Abstract

Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common metabolicliver disorder ranging from simple steatosisto steatohepatitis, fibrosis and cirrhosis.Ultrasonography is widely used for detectingand grading hepatic steatosis, while liverfunction tests provide biochemical evidenceof hepatocellular injury, cholestasis andsynthetic dysfunction. The relationship
between ultrasonographic severity and biochemical abnormalities requires furtherevaluation.
